"The Japanese are fond of bento-style characters and illustrations."

BentoAdjective. Pronounced “BEN-toe.” Derived from the Japanese

method of packing lunch. Descriptive of anything that is overly cute, or pertaining to Japanese techno-culture, or other Asian techno pop-culture. “The blue hair dye he used was very bento.” “Why do you always draw those bento pandas?”

Bourgeois – Adjective. Pronounced “BURZH-waaz.” Denoting a sophisticated disposition and manner. For instance, a person who insists on lying around all day would be described as “Bourgeois.” “Ugh! Those librarians are so bourgeoise, look at them sit at their desks and read romance novels while this whole library goes into disarray.” “You’ve done nothing aaaaaall day! You NEVER do anything! You’re so bourgeois!!!

DaksinarrowNoun. Pronounced “DÚHK-sin-AIR-oh.” One with type A personality. Noted by their obsession with particular details. Likes to have all his ducks in a row. There are two types of daksinarrows: Those who are unpleasant about their particularity (Red Daksinarrow), and those who are more laid-back yet still particular about details (Whit Ducksinarrow).

Faily - Adjective. Derived from internet meme “Fail.” Pronounced “FAIL-ee.” Having qualities which would be described as “Fail.” “Ugh, these pens from Wal-Mart are so faily…”

GeppyAdjective. Derivative unknown. Pronounced “GHEP-ee.” Markedly unbecoming, lame, nerdy, or clashy. “Trotsky’s hair is so geppy!!!” “Why are all Christmas sweaters so geppy? And whose idea was the Christmas Sweater anyway? Like what does that even mean?!?”

Good LolExpression. Pronounced “Good LAWL.” Said when something/someone is fun. “I love the Cheburashka cartoons! They’re good lol.” “Viktor Onuchak is so whiny—he’s good lol though.”

"What say we just do a joppie, m'dear?"

JoppieNoun. Pronounced “JAWP-ee.” The act of eloping. Derived from “JOP” (Justice of the peace). “They pulled a joppie.”

LeflyAdjective. Derived from mispronunciation of meaning, “Lovely.” Pronounced “LEFF-lee.” Not to be confused with French “Le Fly,” which means nothing to my knowledge.

LolligExpression. Pronounced “LAWL-ig.” Borrowed from Dutch “Lollig,” meaning “Funny.” Another term for “LOL.” Does not need capitalization (lollig). Alternative pronunciation: Lollug ~ L-O-L-ig ~ L-O-L-ug

Stairs Johnny - Noun. A device used by seniors to move from one floor to the next with greater ease than if they walked. The stairs johnny is mounted in the stairwell, although it is used without the use of the stairs themselves. Similar to Mary Poppin’s up-the-banister approach to staircase ascent. “Grandma broke the stairs johnny the other day. She pressed the up/down button too many times.”

SvéAdverb. Pronounced “SVAY.” Usage comparative to “Way” or “Very.” “Wow, that conversation was své awkward…” “Woah!!!! That cadillac is své pink!!!”

UnhomeAdjective. Pronounced “un-HOME.” Derived from English “Home.” Means not-home. “She’s mentally unhome.” “Daniel’s unhome today, could I take a message?”

WendNoun. Internet friend. (Pronounced like Wind with a short E instead of I.) Not to be confused with real friend (Yet). Although some similarities exist, it’s just n0t the same. Derived from English “Web,” and “Friend.”

Wikipedia KnowsExpression. A mystery, or unexplainable quirk. Similar to Goodness-knows. “He wants to go to the theatre tonight to watch As You Like It, Wikipedia knows why.” “Don’t put those in your mouth, Wikipedia knows where they’ve been!”

Wikipedian LawNoun. Pronounced “wicky-PEEDI-yen laa.” Derived from “Wikipedia.” Meaning an unspoken law that is as unchangeable as the face of Mount Rushmore. “You can’t play telephone? It’s Wikipedian law that every child must know how to play telephone!” “When the light turns yellow, you hit the gas. Legal? I don’t know, it’s just Wikipedian law.”

  1. Hands down, this is my favorite blog “page-within-a-page” of all that I have seen anywhere. I hope as you increase your vocabulary, this site will grow. I have coined a few words myself, but none that come to mind when I really need them . . .of course that must be Wikipedian Law!
